OUR HISTORY
Since 1897, the Woman's Club of Erie has been one of this city's most enduring civic institutions. Founded by a group of women committed to improving their community through education, philanthropy, and collective action, the club has spent more than a century making Erie a better place for the women and families who call it home.

What We Built
In 1921, club member Winifred Galbraith sold her home at 259 West Sixth Street to the organization she loved, giving the Woman's Club of Erie a permanent home that has anchored its work ever since. The Galbraith Mansion is not simply a meeting place; it is a testament to what these women built together, and we remain its proud stewards.

The women of this club did not simply meet and discuss, they built things. Among their founding contributions to Erie are the Visiting Nurses Association and the Erie unit of the American Cancer Society, organizations that have served this community for generations. Their legacy is woven into the fabric of this city in ways that outlasted any single member or era.
